Role Summary

Belton Park Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic PGA Golf Professional to deliver an outstanding golf experience for members, guests, juniors, societies, and visitors. This self-employed opportunity will suit a motivated golf professional with strong coaching, retail, customer service, and golf operations experience, and a clear commitment to supporting member engagement and the continued growth of golf at the club.

Key Responsibilities

·       Coaching and player development: Deliver high-quality individual, group, junior, beginner, and member coaching programmes, and develop structured pathways, clinics, taster sessions, junior and academy activity, as well as player improvement programmes.
·       Member and visitor experience: Provide a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional service to members, guests, visitors, societies, prospective members, and junior golfers.
·       Professional shop, retail, and team management: Manage the professional shop under licence, overseeing its day-to-day operation and ensuring a welcoming, well-presented retail environment. Responsibilities include retail sales, merchandising, product advice, stock presentation, ordering, and stock control. Pro Shop staffing arrangements, include recruitment, rota planning, performance management, and related staffing matters.
·       Equipment services: Offer custom fitting, equipment advice, club repairs, re-gripping, and equipment servicing where appropriate.
·       Events and competitions: Support the planning and delivery of club competitions, open events, society and corporate days, club fixtures, charity days, and the annual Pro-Am. Play in events where required and represent the club professionally throughout.
·       Golf operations: Support the smooth day-to-day running of golf operations, including green fee collection, open tee sheet management, tee closures, starting duties, visitor welcome, scorecard preparation, competition administration, and related operational procedures.
·       Communications and engagement: Promote member engagement through regular communication, coaching updates, retail promotions, events, newsletters, and social media content where required.
·       Team collaboration: Work closely with the Management Committee, Club Manager, office team, greenkeeping team, hospitality volunteers, and club officials to provide a consistent, high-quality experience for members and visitors.  Attend Management Committee meetings as required and participate in weekly Heads of Department meetings.
·       Participation growth: Support initiatives to grow participation, including academy programmes, junior golf, women and girls’ golf, beginner programmes, Get into Golf activity, and community outreach.
·       Standards and compliance: Maintain high standards of professional conduct, personal presentation, shop appearance, customer care, safeguarding, equality, inclusion, health and safety, and data protection.
·       Technology and systems: Use appropriate technology, coaching software, launch monitors, booking systems, and communication tools to enhance the player and customer experience. Work confidently with the club’s operating platform, Intelligent Golf (IG), to support effective day-to-day administration and service delivery.
·       Commercial contribution: Identify opportunities to increase coaching income, retail performance, member satisfaction, visitor spend and repeat participation.
·       Club ambassador: Act as an ambassador for Belton Park Golf Club, upholding the club’s values and contributing positively to its reputation and long-term development.
·       Practice facilities: Manage the practice facilities day to day, including ball collection and cleaning, ensuring they remain safe, well presented, and available for members, visitors, coaching, and club activities.
·       Golf buggy fleet: Manage the golf buggy fleet, ensuring buggies are clean, presentable, safe, and ready for member, visitor, and club use.

·       PGA qualified, working towards advanced PGA status, depending on the intended level of appointment.
·       Strong coaching ability with a passion for helping golfers of all ages and abilities improve.
·       A confident and approachable leader who can motivate people and small teams, lead by example, and maintain a positive, professional, and collaborative working style.
·       Excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills.
·       Commercial awareness and confidence in retail, coaching income generation, and member engagement.
·       Ability to work flexibly, including weekends, competition days, and key club events.
·       Commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion, and growing the game.
·       Actively engage with others across the golf industry to understand emerging trends, share insight, and build strong professional networks.
·       Confident using IT systems and relevant technology, with knowledge of Intelligent Golf (IG) considered beneficial.
