Salary

Base salary: £31,200 per annum (£15/hour, 40-hour week (TBC), £2,600/month). Plus performance-related commission from memberships, lessons and Golf Improvement Products, paid one month in arrears.

Estimated on-target earnings: £45,000-£46,000 in Year 1, rising to ~£55,600 per annum at steady state. Not guaranteed.

Role purpose

To deliver high-quality individual and group golf coaching in line with Tee Box standards, while progressing through a structured initial training period that develops the practical foundations needed to analyse and improve a golfer’s swing and performance through individual lessons.

The opportunity

This is an employed coaching role within a growing business for someone who wants to become an excellent coach in a demanding but highly supportive environment. We are open to applications from both early-career coaches and more experienced coaches, provided they are professional, open-minded and willing to learn and work within the Tee Box environment.

The role includes a structured initial training period and close mentorship from Harry Varney. The purpose of this training is to give coaches the practical foundations needed to analyse a golfer’s swing, communicate clearly, and help players improve during individual lessons, while continuing to develop as the wider Tee Box coaching system, workbook, and online training resources evolve.

Training and progression

Months 1-2: initial training, practical learning and supported development.
Months 3-4: coaches will typically begin delivering approximately 2-3 regular coaching shifts per week alongside approximately 2-3 cover shifts, with continued support and feedback.
From around Month 5: coaches may progress toward an almost full-time coaching schedule, subject to demonstrated competence, business demand and operational need.

The initial training is designed to provide the foundation for analysing and improving golfers’ swings in individual lessons. More advanced systems for structured, long-term player development will be introduced over time as the wider Tee Box coaching system continues to develop.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality one-to-one and group golf coaching sessions.
• Help golfers improve through clear observation, communication and practical coaching interventions.
• Learn and apply the Tee Box approach to lesson delivery, client communication and coaching standards.
• Take part in observation, mentoring, debriefs and ongoing coach development.
• Use video analysis, Trackman and other coaching tools where required.
• Maintain accurate client notes and follow-up records.
• Work agreed regular shifts and cover shifts as required.
• Represent Tee Box professionally and support the wider day-to-day coaching environment.

What we are looking for

Essential

• Strong interest in building a career in golf coaching.
• Obtained a good level of Golf already (low handicap and below)
• Genuine interest in helping players improve.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Professional, reliable and punctual.
• Open-minded, coachable and willing to learn a shared approach.
• Comfortable receiving feedback and applying it.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends where required.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Based within a reasonable commuting distance of one of Tee Box’s current locations.

Desirable

• Previous golf coaching experience.
• PGA training, coaching qualifications or relevant sporting background.
• Experience in customer service.
• Familiarity with Trackman, video analysis or similar tools.

Important note

This role suits someone who is comfortable in a fast-moving business with high standards and some ambiguity. Tee Box has a clear direction on how coaches should assess, communicate, and deliver lessons, but the wider coaching system, workbook, and online learning resources are still being developed, so the successful candidate should be comfortable learning in an evolving environment rather than expecting a fully built corporate training structure from day one.
