Following 25 years of outstanding service from our current Head Professional, Brocton Hall Golf Club is seeking an ambitious, engaging and commercially minded PGA Professional to lead the next chapter of professional services at one of Staffordshire’s leading private members’ clubs. The exceptional longevity of our Professional appointments reflects the Club’s commitment to building lasting relationships and providing first-class service to its membership.

Founded in 1894, Brocton Hall combines a highly regarded parkland course with a welcoming Grade II listed clubhouse, an active membership and competition programme, established junior golf and a clear ambition to continue investing in the member and visitor experience.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will lead and develop the Club’s professional service, working closely with the Chairman, Management Committee and General Manager. This is a member-facing leadership role combining Professional Shop operations, retail, coaching, custom fitting, golf operations, visitor service and wider Club engagement.

The Club is seeking the right long-term appointment rather than prescribing a single commercial model. A competitive retainer will be offered at a level commensurate with the importance and scope of the position, with the overall arrangement discussed with shortlisted candidates against the Club’s service requirements, commercial sustainability and value to the membership.

Success in the role will be measured not only through commercial performance, but through member satisfaction, service standards, participation in golf, junior development, retail performance and the Professional’s contribution to the wider success and reputation of Brocton Hall Golf Club.

Professional Shop & Facilities

An excellent, established Professional Shop facility is available in a prominent position serving members and visitors. The Club is amenable to constructive discussion with the successful candidate regarding the internal layout, presentation and decoration of the shop to support an attractive, modern and commercially successful retail environment.

The incoming Professional will have the opportunity to develop retail, coaching and custom-fitting services while working in partnership with the Club to enhance the overall golf operation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day operation and presentation of the Professional Shop, delivering consistently exceptional service to members, guests and visitors.

Develop a high-quality retail proposition, including merchandising, purchasing, stock control, supplier relationships and commercial performance.

Provide and develop individual and group coaching for golfers of all abilities, including juniors, beginners and developing players.

Grow coaching, custom-fitting, equipment advice and associated revenue streams using appropriate modern technology and expertise.

Manage tee-sheet utilisation, visitor golf, societies and day-to-day golf enquiries in partnership with the Club administration team.

Support the effective delivery of Club competitions, matches, open events and major golfing occasions.

Oversee buggy hire and other Professional Shop services to agreed Club standards.

Build strong relationships across the membership and act as a visible, approachable and positive ambassador for Brocton Hall.

Work collaboratively with the Chairman, Management Committee, General Manager, Greenkeeping, Bar & Catering and wider Club team.

Support membership recruitment, retention, participation and the continued development of junior golf.

Promote the Club and its professional services through appropriate digital, social media and member communications.

Maintain the highest PGA professional standards and a strong commitment to continuing professional development.

The Person

We are looking for a Professional who can combine credibility on the golf side with warmth, leadership and strong commercial judgement. Applicants should demonstrate:

Full PGA qualification and current PGA Membership.

A strong record of delivering outstanding member and customer service.

Proven retail and commercial awareness, with the ability to build a successful Professional Shop proposition.

Excellent coaching credentials and enthusiasm for developing golfers across different ages and abilities.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build lasting relationships across a private members’ club.

Strong organisational, administrative and problem-solving abilities.

A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to lead by example.

Knowledge of golf club management and booking systems; Intelligent Golf experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Flexibility to support weekends, evenings, competitions and major Club occasions as the role requires.
