The Opportunity

Peter Maxwell Golf is looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused and commercially minded Assistant PGA Professional to join our team at Greenburn Golf Club.

This is an exciting opportunity for a PGA Professional who wants to develop their career across retail, coaching, custom fitting and customer service, while working closely with our Head PGA Professional.

The role would suit someone who is passionate about golf, enjoys working with people and is keen to develop their professional skills and earning potential within a busy golf retail and coaching environment.

Key Responsibilities

As an Assistant PGA Professional, your role will include:

Providing excellent customer service and building strong relationships with customers.
Supporting the day-to-day running of the golf shop.
Retail sales and assisting customers with product selection.
Maintaining strong product knowledge across golf equipment, apparel and accessories.
Merchandising and maintaining attractive shop displays.
Stock control and assisting with stock management.
Supporting golf coaching, tuition and custom fitting where qualified and permitted.
Using TrackMan technology to support coaching and custom fitting.
Helping to promote coaching services, custom fitting and retail opportunities.
Maintaining the high standards expected of a PGA Professional.
Representing Peter Maxwell Golf and the PGA in a professional manner at all times.
Carrying out other reasonable duties required to support the business.
Coaching & Commercial Opportunities

The role offers the opportunity to develop your coaching, custom fitting and retail income alongside your core employment.

A coaching and sales commission structure will be agreed with the successful candidate, based on qualifications, experience, responsibilities and performance.

There will be opportunities to generate additional income through:

Golf coaching and tuition.
Custom fitting.
Retail sales.
TrackMan-based coaching and fitting.
Developing new and existing customer relationships.
The commission and incentive structure will be reviewed periodically to ensure it continues to reflect the role, performance and development of the business.

Hours

This is a seasonal position working approximately 30–45 hours per week.

Working days and the rota will be agreed according to the needs of the business. Some additional hours may be required during busy trading periods.

Pay & Benefits

National Minimum Wage for shop hours.
Additional earning potential through an agreed coaching and sales structure.
Performance-based earning opportunities.
28 days’ paid holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays, pro-rated where applicable.

Potential support with relevant CPD and training, subject to business requirements.

Is a PGA Professional or is working towards their PGA qualification.
Has a genuine passion for golf.
Enjoys working with customers and providing excellent service.
Has a positive, professional and approachable manner.
Is commercially aware and motivated to develop sales opportunities.
Has an interest in golf equipment and custom fitting.
Is keen to develop their coaching skills.
Has good communication and organisational skills.
Can work effectively as part of a small team.
Takes pride in maintaining professional PGA standards.
Previous experience in golf retail, coaching, custom fitting or TrackMan is desirable, but enthusiasm and the right attitude are equally important.
