PGA Assistant Professional

Introduction

Due to the recent appointment of a new Head Professional, Waltham Windmill Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Professional (either in training or qualified) to assist in the day to day running of golf operations.

Whether you are already qualified or looking to enter the PGA Training Programme, this position will place you at the central hub of a busy golf operation. You will have use of brand new facilities to open in February 2027 including an indoor Trackman studio and workshop.

We will actively encourage and support your commitment to competitive play, practice, and professional development. The successful candidate will work with the Head Professional in running golf operations, and provide first-class customer service, coaching, fitting, and retail support.

Waltham Windmill Golf Club is a proprietary club with a strong reputation in the area for its golf course and a thriving, loyal membership base.  We have a full membership with a waiting list in operation.

The club has a full, well-supported competition calendar, a welcoming environment and a top-quality golf course that has benefitted from significant investment by the owners in recent years.

The Club is popular with visiting parties and societies due to the standard of the golf course and the high-quality bar & catering offering in the Clubhouse.

Key Responsibilities

1. Golf Operations & Member/Visitor Experience

·       Manage the first tee, check-in members, visitors and societies, and co-ordinate with the course marshal to manage pace of play.

·       Enforce the Club’s dress code.

·       Assist in the running of club competitions, corporate golf days, and tournaments from scoring setup to prize giving.

·       Maintain the golf buggy fleet, ensuring elite standards of presentation, staging, and cleanliness.

2. Retail & Shop Management

·       Deliver high class customer service within brand new, fully stocked Pro Shop.

·       Assist with merchandising, and the promotion of apparel and hardware.

·       Handle point-of-sale (POS) transactions and open/close the shop as required

3. Custom Fitting & Technology

·       Utilise our launch monitor to deliver expert, data-driven custom fittings for major equipmentbrands.

·       Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the latest golf hardware, shaft profiles, and launch monitor metrics to maximise hardware sales.

4. Coaching & Player Development

·       Deliver private and group golf lessons to a varied demographic, including members, visitors, and complete beginners.

·       Design and execute engaging ladies golf camps and academy programmes to foster growing participation.

5. Golf Club Repair & Workshop Duties

·       Assist in our workshop, executing precise club repairs including re-gripping, re-shafting, and loft/lie alterations.

6. Playing & Personal Development

·       Opportunity to Play: Dedicated time and support will be provided to practice, play with members, and compete in tournaments and pro-ams.

·       Full access to our practice facilities, short game areas, and golf course.

What We’re Looking For

·       Fully qualified PGA Professional, registered PGA Associate, or an applicant wishing to enrol in the PGA Training Programme.

·       Proven proficiency or strong interest in learning Trackman or similar launch monitor technology.

·       Practical experience (or willingness to learn) golf club repair and custom fitting.

·       Excellent communication skills with members, guests, and staff.

·       Proficiency in golf operations software, digital communications, and modern coaching techniques.

·       A passion for growing the game of golf and delivering a first-class member experience.

·       Flexibility and the ability to work evenings and weekends.
