Rushmore Golf Club is seeking an outstanding PGA Professional to join the Club as our new Head PGA Professional.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior role at Rushmore at a time when we are reshaping our golf operation and bringing our Golf Shop fully in-house.

About Rushmore
Rushmore Golf Club is an established proprietary golf club and forms part of the wider Rushmore Estate, situated on the Wiltshire/Dorset border within the beautiful Cranborne Chase National Landscape.

Our 18-hole course occupies a stunning parkland setting, with a strong and active membership alongside a busy programme of visitor, society and competitive golf.

The Club has continued to invest in both the course and its facilities, with further development planned, including significant improvements to our practice and driving range facilities.

We are a friendly and welcoming Club with a strong focus on providing an excellent experience for members, guests and visitors, while continuing to develop the commercial side of the golf operation.

The Opportunity
We are looking for far more than someone to simply run the Golf Shop. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Club’s senior team and one of the most visible faces of Rushmore, working closely with the General Manager and fellow Heads of Department.

The Head PGA Professional will take responsibility for the professional and commercial direction of the Club’s golf retail operation.

We see considerable opportunity to develop this area of the business and are looking for someone who can combine the qualities of an excellent Club Professional with strong commercial instincts.

Responsibilities will include purchasing and pre-books, stock management, supplier relationships, merchandising, margin management, promotions, club fitting and identifying opportunities to grow the retail operation.

Beyond retail, the Head Professional will play an important role in the wider commercial performance of the Club, helping to develop membership, visitor golf and other golf-related revenue opportunities.

The Head Professional will work closely with the existing team in delivering the day-to-day operation of the Golf Shop, maintaining excellent standards of presentation and customer service.

Just as importantly, this is not a role confined to the Golf Shop.

We want our Head Professional to be highly visible around the Club: getting to know our members, welcoming visitors and societies, supporting competitions and events, playing golf with members and guests and being an integral part of Club life.

Working Pattern & Coaching
The employed element of the position is based on 30 contracted Club hours per week, worked flexibly according to the needs of the Club.

Alongside this, we want Rushmore to become the successful candidate’s professional base. The role has deliberately been structured to provide significant opportunity for the Head Professional to develop a strong coaching business from the Club.

We would therefore expect the successful candidate to have a substantial presence at Rushmore beyond their contracted Club hours, particularly during the main golfing season, through their coaching, playing, fitting and wider professional activity.

We are looking for a Head Professional who is visible, accessible and genuinely part of everyday Club life rather than someone whose involvement begins and ends with their contracted hours.

There will be a normal weekly pattern incorporating Golf Shop and competition responsibilities, although flexibility will be essential to accommodate Club events, competitions, playing commitments and the changing needs of the golf operation.

About You
We are looking for a PGA-qualified Professional who is personable, enthusiastic and commercially minded, with the confidence to become an important part of the Club’s leadership team.

You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of the retail operation while also understanding what members and visitors expect from a modern Head Club Professional.

Experience of golf retail, purchasing, club fitting and stock management would be highly desirable, alongside a strong interest in developing a successful coaching programme.

Above all, we want someone who wants to be part of the Club.

Someone who enjoys engaging with members, has ideas and energy, takes pride in high standards and wants to help us develop the golf operation rather than simply maintain it.
