About the Candidate

Dear James Johnson,

I am writing to express my interest in a trainee position at Fulwell Golf Club, as I am keen to begin my journey towards becoming a PGA Professional and build a long-term career within the golf industry.

Having previously been a member at Fulwell, I know the club well and would welcome the opportunity to return in a professional capacity. My passion for golf has grown significantly over the past 8-9 months, during which I have been developing my knowledge of the game and exploring the coaching side of the sport. This has strengthened my ambition to pursue my PGA qualification and turn my passion for golf into a career.

I am currently working towards my GLE Level 1 coaching qualification, which I aim to complete by the end of October. Alongside this, I am continuing to develop my own game and currently play off a 6.8 handicap, with the goal of getting down to 6.4 so I can officailly apply to become a PGA professional.

Alongside my growing experience in golf, I have a background in project management, which I believe would bring valuable transferable skills to the role. My experience has helped me develop strong organisational and communication skills, manage competing priorities, solve problems and work effectively with different people to achieve shared goals. I understand the importance of delivering a high standard of service, maintaining attention to detail and ensuring the day to day running of operations is well organised. I believe these skills would transfer well to the professional’s shop and wider golf club environment, while providing a strong foundation for my continued development within the industry.

I understand that gaining practical experience within a professional’s shop is an important part of working towards the relevant PGA entry requirements. I am therefore looking for an opportunity where I can learn from experienced professionals, develop my customer service and retail skills, gain a better understanding of the day-to-day running of a golf club and work towards starting my PGA training.

I am enthusiastic, hardworking and eager to learn. I would be more than happy to get involved wherever needed and bring the same commitment and professionalism that I have developed throughout my project management career. I am keen to combine my existing professional experience with my passion for golf, learn from those around me and work towards achieving my ambition of becoming a PGA Professional.

Having already experienced Fulwell as a member, I would be particularly excited by the opportunity to contribute to the club and become part of the team.
