  • Working arrangements: Flexible and largely self-managed, with the workload varying throughout the year in line with the tournament calendar and operational requirements.
  • Location: Predominantly home-based, with access to shared office facilities at Hockley Golf Club and attendance at golf clubs across Hampshire for tournaments, events and committee meetings as required.
  • Additional provision: Use of a vehicle provided by The Peter Cooper Motor Group, subject to agreed terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management & Commercial Development
  • Work closely with the Financial Controller to prepare, monitor and report on budgets and financial performance relating to County activities.
  • Develop, present and negotiate sponsorship proposals, while maintaining and strengthening existing corporate partnerships. The County currently works with more than ten sponsors.

  • Manage outstanding invoices and payments professionally, ensuring effective credit control and timely collection of income.
  1. Tournament Operations & Event Management
  • Coordinate and oversee the seasonal calendar of Championships, Pro-Ams and other events.
  • On Tournament days, coordinate operational staff and event-day support, providing clear instructions and maintaining effective communications and ensure events are run efficiently and delivered to a high standard.
  • Resolve operational challenges independently, exercising sound judgement and maintaining a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  1. Communications & Stakeholder Relations
  • Manage written correspondence, telephone communications and the County’s social media channels.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with PGA professionals, golf club managers, sponsors, Committee members and other stakeholders.
  • Handle enquiries, complaints and sensitive matters with professionalism, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Represent the PGA in Hampshire positively and professionally at meetings, tournaments and other events.
  1. Governance & Operational Leadership
  • Work collaboratively with the Association Committee to support the delivery of agreed priorities and objectives.
  • Prepare clear operational reports, meeting updates and relevant communications.
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities independently, ensuring activities are delivered efficiently and deadlines are met.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

  • Highly organised, dependable and personable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of budgeting, financial administration and income generation.
  • Experienced in managing multiple priorities, coordinating events and meeting deadlines.
  • Confident working independently, exercising initiative and resolving problems effectively.
  • Comfortable building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and handling sensitive matters professionally.
  • Able to manage a flexible workload that increases during the main tournament season and reduces during quieter periods.

Experience in golf, sports administration, event management, sponsorship or a membership-based organisation would be advantageous.

Candidates should be operating, or be prepared to operate, on a genuine self-employed consultancy basis.
