About the Candidate
I am writing to apply for the Trainee Assistant Golf Professional role at Chiltern Forest Golf Club. Golf has been a genuine passion of mine for years, and I am keen to begin my PGA training and build a long-term career within the game in a friendly, progressive club environment.
For the last four years I have worked within the professional game as Assistant Producer with IMG on the European Tour, spending time at over 40 live events a year including The Open Championship and the Ryder Cup. While my role there was production-focused, it has given me a genuine, first-hand understanding of the professional game, its players and its culture, and a strong appreciation for the standards and etiquette involved.
Alongside this, I hold an LTA Level 1 coaching qualification and have worked as Head Tennis Coach, planning and delivering structured coaching sessions for a range of age groups, managing session logistics and safety checks, and building positive relationships with members, parents and visitors — experience I believe transfers well to coaching and customer-facing work in a golf club setting. I have also managed stock and equipment logistics across large-scale live events, providing a friendly and efficient service to customers during busy periods.
I am a hard-working, reliable and approachable person who takes pride in delivering a great experience for the people I work with, and I am genuinely excited by the opportunity to learn across coaching, retail, club fitting and repairs, particularly with your new indoor coaching and performance studio launching soon. I would love the chance to discuss the role further and am available to start whenever suits the club.
Yours faithfully,
Matthew Gormley
