AARON CROTTY – PGA GOLF PROFESSIONAL

 

Profile:

I am a qualified PGA Professional, having worked in the Industry across Ireland, America and Australia. Along with gaining experiences abroad, I have applied what I learned in the Birmingham PGA course in the development of the pro shops and golf academies I have worked at. My strong customer service skills, combined with my background in golf coaching, allow me to connect with people easily and build genuine rapport. Whether I’m helping someone improve their swing or assisting with a service-related need, I bring patience, communication, and a people-first approach to every interaction.

I have a keen sense of customer service, practised at the above golf clubs which has given me a well-rounded knowledge of the golf industry and helped me to develop as a PGA teaching Professional along with giving me a sense of commercial awareness and an enhanced engagement with members and visitors.

I have developed marketing initiatives to promote participation in golf camps, unique golf clinics and events for a diverse range of player abilities. I have ran weekly clinics, golf camps, spread through word of mouth, poster and online advertising. In Melbourne, we had an indoor swing room with Trackman which I used to help me develop my coaching and offer my clients a better service.

I am a hardworking, driven and committed person who enjoys new challenges and is always keen to learn more. As a 28 year old I feel like I have gained great experiences from travelling around and has given me a broad, well rounded view of the golf industry.

 

Elm Park Golf Club – Teaching Professional (May 2024-Present)

–          Coaching 20-30 hours a week generally.

–          Working in the pro shop 2-3 days a week, assisting with everything from sales, stock buying, organising rosters, competition set up and member and guest services.

–          In Elm Park there is a great Junior programme which I have continued to develop in my time here.

–          I run elite group sessions for the junior members who are showing promise for club teams along with coaching some of the men’s and ladies teams.

–          I have build up a great rapport with the members and have weekly clients for 1-1 lessons.

 

Heidelberg Golf Club, Melbourne – Teaching Professional (October 2023-May 2024)

–          Mainly teaching and worked 1-2 shifts per week in the pro shop.

–          I ran over 50 free 15 minute putting lessons in an initiative to get to know the members, this was a great success and led to me becoming very busy with my coaching.

–          I ran Ladies get into golf, Seniors ‘Gain Distance’ and 90 minute Short game clinics weekly which was very successful.

–          In the pro shop, I assisted with buying stock, running competitions and cashflow.

 

Spawell Golf Academy – Full time Coach (April 2023-September 2023)

–          In the Spawell I went out on my own and had my own coaching business.

–          I ran golf classes from a range of abilities along with individual lessons.

–          I advertised a lot through social media via Instagram and TikTok which was successful.

 

Pinjarra Golf Club, Perth – Head Teaching Professional (October 2022- March 2023)

–          Here I decided to go to Australia for the winter season.

–          I oversaw pro shop repairs, buying in stock, daily running of the pro shop and rosters, competition set up along with running my coaching business.

–          Here I focused particularly on ladies and junior golf. I ran 2 ladies get into golf classes over a 6 week period with the help of some prominent lady members, along with taking charge of the golf Australia girls scholarship programme which meant I took junior girls for 24 hours of coaching over a 6 month period.

Lisheen Springs Golf Club – PGA Trainee (August 2020-September 2023)

–          Worked under the great guidance of Raymie Burns

–          This is where I learned a lot about the running of a pro shop from retail to member customer service.

–          Ran the junior programme and summer camps. This was a developing period for the club as we were trying to grow the junior programme in this time.

–          I went on the Morocco coaching trip in October 2022.

Owning and running a business:

–          In 2020 I decided to set up Fore Leaf Golf Clothing.

–          This was great for learning, everything from running a business, creating a website, taking payments, designing and marketing.

–          We turned over €25000 in online sales within 2 years and got it stocked in over 10 pro shops

American Experiences:

–          In 2017 I went and worked at Broken Sound Golf Club in Florida for a season and in 2019 I caddied in Olympia Fields Golf Club in Chicago for a season.

–          These experiences gave me the drive to want to work in the golf industry and I learned alot, particularly about member services and attention to detail.
