North Shore Golf Club is seeking an ambitious, commercially minded and highly motivated Director of Golf to lead all aspects of our golf operation. As we continue to develop and grow, this exceptional individual will lead our golf operation and help shape the next chapter of North Shore Golf Club.
Situated on the Lincolnshire coast in Skegness, North Shore Golf Club is a well-established James Braid-designed course offering a unique blend of links and parkland golf. Combined with our 34-bedroom hotel, thriving membership and successful golf break business, North Shore has established itself as one of the region’s leading golfing destinations.
The Club has recently invested in a state-of-the-art TrackMan Performance Centre and continues to invest across the business as we seek to enhance both the member and visitor experience.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Company Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, development and commercial performance of the entire golf operation. The ideal candidate will work at both a strategic and operational level, overseeing and continually improving all areas of the golf department. This role requires setting a clear vision for the business’s strategic growth, while personally driving new sales and marketing opportunities. A strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service and maximising both revenue and profitability is essential.
The Person:
The successful candidate will be a PGA Professional with a head for business who is equally comfortable coaching golfers, managing retail operations, engaging with members and driving commercial performance. The role would suit an ambitious Head Professional or an existing Director of Golf looking for a fresh challenge. The ideal candidate will possess:
Ø PGA Professional status.
Ø A sound knowledge of the golf industry, including familiarity with England Golf and the World Handicap System (WHS).
Ø Experience managing or assisting in the management of a golf operation.
Ø Good IT skills, with experience of golf club management systems; a working knowledge of BRS Golf and Club Systems would be advantageous.
Ø Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities to grow revenue, membership and profitability.
Ø Excellent communication, customer service and relationship-building skills.
Ø Proven ability to recruit, retain and engage members.
Ø Strong people management/leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Ø Experience of golf retail operations, merchandising, stock control and shop management.
Ø Ability to deliver high-quality golf coaching/tuition to individuals/groups of all ages/abilities.
Ø A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be required to hold, or successfully obtain, an enhanced DBS check in accordance with the Club’s safeguarding policy.
Ø Experience using TrackMan or similar launch monitor technology, and an ability to maximise its commercial potential, would be advantageous.
Ø Strong financial and administrative skills, including budgeting and performance monitoring.
Ø Ability to multi-task, work independently and make sound commercial decisions.
Ø Director of Golf qualification would be desirable but is not essential.
