About the Candidate

My name is Sami, and I am a 17-year-old student currently studying for a Level 3 BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Golf Studies at Myerscough College, however, I am finishing my current year of study at Myerscough College immediately and have chosen to progress directly into the FdSc Professional Golf Studies programme, as it aligns more closely with my long-term goal of becoming a PGA Professional, therefore am available for an immediate start, while waiting for an official start date to progress with my studies as a PGA Trainee once I turn 18 in June.  My full CV is attached.

I am passionate about building a career within the golf industry, and have submitted my application for the FdSc Professional Golf Studies programme with the PGA, to commence in September/ October this year. As part of this pathway, I am seeking a golf facility that would be willing to support me as a PGA trainee while I complete this course.

I currently play off a 6.7 handicap, although did finish the season last year on 5.8, and am committed to continually improving both my performance and my knowledge of the game. Alongside developing my playing ability, I am keen to gain hands-on industry experience and build a strong understanding of how a successful golf operation is run — from coaching and retail to customer service and club management.

While I am committed to developing all-round industry knowledge, my main passion lies in golf club fitting, as well as gaining hands-on experience in the management and daily running of a Pro Shop within a golf club setting.

I am very proud to have been chosen to represent my Club, York Golf Club, as their Junior Captain for the coming season, and hope to retain my title as Junior Champion for the coming year.
